States adopting uniform arbitration act

This article describes the Revised Uniform Arbitration Act (RUAA), adopted in August 2000 by the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws (NCCUSL). The RUAA updates the 1955 Uniform Arbitration Act. The revisions address the use of electronic means for documentation, the autonomy of the parties, the practice of motion, the question of arbitrability, provisional/final remedies, the arbitration notice, consolidation of arbitrable proceedings, conflict of interest, civil immunity, attorney representation, discovery, correcting errors in awards, vacatur, compensation to attorneys, jurisdiction, and special provisions regarding the effective date of the statute.
